Bienvenue FR24! What’s the news with language & technology?

Welcome to everyone from French 24, Prof. Kern’s “Language and Technology” seminar, and of course to anyone else who happens upon this post. (These days I think Found in Translation’s getting about 200 hits per day, and we’ve had visits from people in about 150 countries, if I’m remembering the Google Analytics report […]

ありがとうございます(arigatou gozaimasu) = “Thank you very much”.

“What’s a new year’s greeting or other holiday expression that’s memorable, important, […]

Before I begin I would just like to say that I am writing from my personal experience and opinion. I make no claims that what I am about to write is true, I simply offer some facts of what I noticed throughout my 4 years in college as a English language learner (ELL), first […]

My Life as a Returning Finn

I close my eyes on the corner of Voionmaankatu and Keskikatu, at the traffic lights, just as I did on a sunny September day in 1972. All of a sudden, 35 years seems like a bat of an eye – life is repeating itself. I remember that in 1972, […]
