Recording Studio: news

Written By: ghh on August 18, 2008 No Comment

News from the BLC recording studio: two major projects completed this summer: One is the transfer of over 200 analog tapes of VEDIC SANSKRIT chants – recorded in the field in India – to digital files. The other is the digitization of master tape recordings of speakers representing endangered California Indian languages. Archiving these languages preserves history, rituals, stories and a way of life. Many of the recordings can be found as audio files on the blc website under Audio Archive of Linguistic field work. More information should be posted on the blc website under Studio and by contacting me: ghh@berkeley.edu.
