This semester at Found in Translation we’re starting to plan several fun offline activities in addition to the blogging, and we hope you’ll get involved. We’re thinking of movie nights, field trips to local events and exhibits, experimental liveblogging, discussions about language, politics, culture and technology… you name it! (got an idea? post a comment below)

We’ll kick it off this Thursday afternoon with a movie outing to see the much-acclaimed film “Slumdog Millionaire”. We’ll have more events announced soon on the calendar, so check back often. And if you’re in a conversation group or language-related student organization that would like to announce its events on the calendar, write to foundintranslation.admin [at] gmail.com and you can add them.

Event this week:   Slumdog Millionaire
When:   Thursday, January 29, 4:30 show
Where:   Albany Twin theater, 1115 Solano Avenue (near San Pablo Ave.)
Public transportation:   Take bus #18 north from the downtown Berkeley BART station (the stop on the opposite side of the street from the BART
escalators)
Cost:   $8 with student ID
Contact:   Dave Malinowski, daveski[at]berkeley.edu. I’ll send my phone number by email.

If you’re on campus in the afternoon and want to walk down to the bus stop
together, meet at 3:30 in the hallway outside B-21 Dwinelle, the Berkeley
Language Center’s computer lab.

Hope to see you there!

P.S. As always, if you’ve had an urge to write about your language learning, study abroad, or other experiences–or just pose a quick question or thought to the FIT community–we’d all love to read about it. You can contact me to get started, or just go ahead and post!
