New language events added to calendar

If you haven’t been there recently, check out the Languages @ Berkeley calendar on FIT. It’s an attempt to bring together events of interest to those on and near the Berkeley campus who are interested in language learning, presentations or exhibits related to language, and conferences of interest.

Here are some events that have just been added:

  • Workshop with BLC Director Rick Kern: “Making connections between film and literacy”. Friday, October 9, 4:30-6:00, B4 Dwinelle Hall.
  • Scandinavian (now spelled correctly, thanks Mikko!) movie nights on Tuesdays from 7 to 9pm in B-4 Dwinelle. Download the cool color flyer here.
  • Russian Conversation Hour every Friday from 2:30 to 3:30, also in B-4.
  • David Crystal, Honorary Professor of Linguistics at the University of Wales, will be giving a talk as part of the BLC’s Lecture Series, called “From Texting to Tweeting: the Brave New World of Internet Linguistics”. It’s Friday October 23 from 3-5pm in 370 Dwinelle.

Also, this calendar is a collaborative Google calendar, which means at least two things:

  1. If YOU or someone you know knows of some language-related events that might be good to add to this calendar, we can invite you so that you can post events directly. To suggest a single event, you can email the FIT admins at foundintranslation.admin@gmail.com
  2. The code for the calendar itself is simple and portable, so the calendar can be included in other websites than FIT.

Keep in touch, and see you at some events!
