“RobinFest” at UC Berkeley on May 4th
This post from LinguistList has just announced a major celebration of Professor Robin Lakoff‘s work:
In recognition of Robin Tolmach Lakoff’s many contributions to linguistics, a day-long symposium in her honor will be held on the University of California, Berkeley, campus Friday, May 4, 2012. Robin’s former students and colleagues will share reminiscences and present their current research inspired and influenced by Robin’s work.
The post goes on to say that next week’s speakers will include Mary Bucholtz (UCSB), Kira Hall (U. of Colorado), Deborah Tannen (Georgetown) and many more; registration is free but the deadline to register is Monday, so act quickly if you’re considering.
Of course, here on FIT we’ve been thrilled to have 2 contributions from Dr. Lakoff: “Cutting to the Chase“, on linguistic shortcuts, and “Palin the Poet” on, well, we’ll let you guess.
Once again, thank you, Dr. Lakoff!
