Oddest Book Titles?

Written By: Usree Bhattacharya on December 16, 2008 2 Comments

With only 15 days, 2 hours, 5 minutes, 4 seconds (at the time of this writing) to go before the year draws to a close, the Internet is flooded with all kinds of lists: Top 10 of this, Top 100 of that, and Top 500 of the other. My favorite list in any given year is the one that contains the nominations for books with the strangest titles released annually by the Bookseller/Diagram Prize for Oddest Title of the Year.

The ones I like most from the last thirty years are both two-time award winners: the “Proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Nude Mice” published by the University of Tokyo Press, and “Greek Rural Postmen and Their Cancellation Numbers” edited by Derek Willan. Click through to check them out!

So, what are some of the oddest book/song/movie titles you have heard of? Opening up the floor for the flurry of comments sure to follow…

I read this in a magazine the other day, so I had to put it up here as a really cool title:

Flotsametrics and the Floating World: How One Man’s Obsession with Runaway Sneakers and Rubber Ducks Revolutionized Ocean Science

If I see any more, I’ll be sure to put them up.
